Advancing the careers of DC’s early childhood educators

Transforming. Tomorrow. Together.

Mission

The Advancing Early Education Collaborative (AEEC) helps women who identify as Black or Latina in the field of early childhood education achieve their educational, career, and financial goals and aspirations.

As the JPMorgan Chase grant sunsets in June 2025, Collaborative partners remain committed to supporting current students. We are proud of each participant’s achievements and grateful to have supported their journey in early childhood education. The AEEC is here to support each participant through this transition and beyond. Everyone has already accomplished so much, and the AEEC is confident in their continued success in the early childhood education field.

Supports Beyond June 2025:

Here’s what current students can still access:

  • Martha’s Table: Groceries, professional clothing, and emotional wellness supports will continue to be available to DC residents through June and beyond.

  • LIFT-DC: If you are already enrolled, you can continue financial coaching for up to two years from your enrollment date.

  • American University (CDA Students): You will continue to receive support from your CDA advisor as long as you are pursuing your credential.

  • Trinity Washington University: You will continue to have access to your academic advisor while you remain enrolled. Please be proactive when applying for scholarships and other financial aid.

  • The Student Success Specialist will be available through August 30, 2025, to help you stay connected with resources and support.

A full list of support services from the service providers can be found here and list of resources available can be found here.

A clear and seamless education pathway for career entry and advancement

Embarking on a journey toward an early childhood education career can be a fulfilling experience that opens endless possibilities.

To start your journey, enroll in our CDA program at American University (AU), a nationally recognized program. After completion, seamlessly transition and transfer credits into AU and Trinity Washington University early childhood education degree programs.

For those with a CDA, you can apply directly to our degree programs.

AU and Trinity Washington universities programs meet the new education requirements for home caregivers, assistant teachers, and teachers set by the Office of the State Superintendent for Education (OSSE).

OSSE’s requirements will take effect in December 2023. Both universities are OSSE-approved educator preparation providers.

A positive and supportive atmosphere both inside and outside of the classroom
