Financial coaching and cash assistance from LIFT DC

For the past 20 years, LIFT DC has been helping individuals and families improve their finances. LIFT DC provides a free financial capabilities (Fin Caps) coaching program with individualized and group support, and tax-free, quarterly cash transfers to help students identify, work toward, and achieve their financial goals.

Benefits to AEEC participants

  • Opportunity to work on goals related to finances, career and well-being

  • Highly trained coaches using evidence-informed methods based on the industry-recognized Consumer Financial Protection Bureau financial capabilities toolkit

  • A tailored, one-on-one coaching model promotes motivation, accountability, and problem-solving

  • Tax-free, $150 every three months, while in the coaching program, to pay down debt, build savings, and cover other expenses

  • Skill-building workshops tailored to student interests and goal areas

  • Social and networking events designed to improve well-being and promote community connections

Martha’s Table delivers supports and services ranging from quality education and family supports to health and wellness and community investments designed to cultivate thriving and sustainable communities in Washington, DC.

  • Free groceries, diapers, formula, and other essential goods—easy pickup at Martha’s Table Markets

  • Operates an accredited, licensed, and “Gold-Tier” recognized early childhood education centers offering year-round practicum schedule

  • Childcare (for own children) and transportation stipends for students completing their practicum at Martha’s Table

  • Professional and casual clothing, new and gently used, at Martha’s Outfitters

  • Access to emotional wellness support and mental health specialists to to help with handling life’s stressors

  • Access to technology for coursework and professional development
